Doyle Bramhall II Concert

Doyle Bramhall II Concert

One of the greatest thing you will ever get to see when it comes to seeing a famous artist is getting to see them in a small venue when that artist has played stadiums. Well that happened for us when we got to see Doyle Bramhall II at the Neighborhood Theater in Charlotte NC.
Doyle Bramhall II  has played with the biggest names out there. He started out sitting in with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmie Vaughan from the Fabulous Thunderbirds, then later on with Roger Waters, and then Eric Clapton and B. B. King... and then also doing a lot of sessions along the way, with Gregg Allman, Elton John, Leon Russell, Allen Toussaint, Mavis Staples....the list goes on and on. You probably heard this song on the radio in 1992 Arc Angles-Sent by Angles.

Doyle Bramhall II has played on some of the biggest stages and yet is one of the most humble person you will meet. Most folks think he's left handed, but he's actually ambidextrous. We noticed he signed autographs with his right hand, so we questioned him about it.  He told us that, it was comfortable to hold a righty  guitar left handed and it never occurred to him to change. When he started to take proper lessons from a guitar teacher, he was told that he needed to string the guitar left handed because it was strung backwards too. He already learned a lot of songs this way so it sounded good to him, so he walked out of the lessons and played his guitar like he wanted to from then on.
Doyle Bramhall II might be a little bit of a backwards player but he is a legend among blues guitar players. He is kind of the guitarists' guitar player. If you ever get the chance to see him play....spend what ever amount you have to, but go.
