I had a very cool Valentines day this year. I woke up this morning to find Kim had set out a bunch of candy kisses spelling out " I Love You". Beside it was a card saying I love you. To say the least I was very impressed with her creativity. Very nice touch to do the candy kisses. She had left for work before I got to see them, so I called her to say thanks and how cool that was and how much I love her.
Unknow to Kim, two weeks earlier I had ordered flowers to be delivered to her work place. I know, your thinking what kind of guy buys flowers 2 weeks ahead for valentines....a smart one! I get tired of this stuff creeping up on me at the last minute every year and rushing around like an idiot. It only took me 15 years for me to get a clue So I took the pro-active approach this year and took care of everything 2 weeks ahead. I had eluded to Kim that perhaps on Valentines I had ordered a stripper who was going to come to her work place that was sent by me. Kind of like a strip-O-gram type Valentines day. She said she would kill me if I did and she would be so embarrassed. I told her I was only kidding, because they don't totally strip down to nothing, so it's not technically a stripper. I kept eluding to this for 2 weeks, oh the fun I had. Finally I said make sure you are there at lunch time because the present is coming, and you wanna make sure you see this gift. So about 11:30 I get a text message from Kim saying how beautiful the flowers were and how much she appreciated them. She said she could wait to see the email I was going to send....the card you send with the flowers has a text limit to 200 characters when you do it online. So I put part of the message on there and said look soon for the rest of the message in an email.
The card I sent with the flowers reads:
To My Honky Wife...Fight the Flower :>) Check your email for a special message
Sincerely, Captain Admiral
She laughed when she read that. It was an inside joke from something she wrote me before (Read Here). So I sent her the email when I got back to house for lunch at 12:30. You can read the email here. Ode to Kim poem . She called me after she read the email and she said I was the greatest, how can you argue with that. So we chatted some more and she said she wanted to make me my favorite supper, rib-eye steak with Greek salad. I said that would be great.
When she arrived home latter I noticed a package in her hand. She walked in and set it down and said, "Look what I got you". She had bought me a $30 bottle of Château de Cruzeau 2005. That was great. Very nice indeed. I love a nice glass of a Bordeaux wine with my steak and for her to buy such a nice top rated wine blew me away. She looked over at the dinning room table and she saw a card there and she said, "you got me a card too?". I said not only did I get you a card but Steven got you one too and not only did we get you cards but we got you a special little cake. So we showed her the cake with the pink roses on it. She was even happier. So I opened up my Château de Cruzeau 2005 and let it breath while I cooked the steaks. I had a nice 1.5 think rib-eye on the grill and 2 smaller ones for Kim and Steven. Kim made the Greek salad and we were good to go for Valentines day. Funny the things we do as we get older to show our appreciation. It truly is all the small things you do that make things a happy home. Our Anniversary is 3 days away....Do you think I planned ahead on this one :>)
