Welcome friends and family to the Baker Troop Family web site. We put this little website together to keep all our relatives and friends up to date on what is happening in our lives. We have photos, videos, blogs, recipe database, and much more, so feel free to look around. We like to blog and keep things up to date.

Since we live in North Carolina, we have great access to the Mountains and the Beach in just a few hours driving time. Most of our adventures are in the mountains, mainly because Troy loves to Fly Fish. We try to take a yearly family trip to the beach in the off-season. We love to venture out and explore new places, and we seem to never run out of local places to venture to. If we aren't out venturing around NC, TN, or VA, we are playing at home or doing house projects. We also minister at our church in the Childrens Ministry when we aren't galivanting around NC, TN, or VA. We have been involved in Childrens ministry since 2000. We do ministry every chance we get.

New River 2012

This weekend was approaching and it was Mother's Day, so I decided to take Kim out to a nice country place that was peaceful and quitet away from the hassels of city life. So I started looking around the internet for a place to stay. The first place didn't pan out, so I searched for about 1 hour before I found a place on the New River. What a place it turned out to be too. It was an old farm house with 180 acres of land right next to the new river. If I was looking for a better place....

NASCAR Racing School

Steven and I got invited by our kids pastors from our church to go on a little outing with the kids that are in our churches summer program. These 2 Pastors are brothers and do all our Church services for the Kids. Andrew does the Sundays at the main campus and Wes does our Child Care facilities. Andrew & Wes Byrd were so kind to invite us on a free NASCAR Racing school this Friday.....

Step 3 Raised Bed Planting

After reading everything I could about the pluses and minuses of each growing scenario, I decided on a raised bed. Problem was how big I wanted to make the raised bed. I found a guy who was a farmer and built a raised bed 2' tall from corrugated sheet metal and used oil sucker rods to support the sides. I loved the idea, but the more I looked into it the more I found.......

15th Year Anniversary

They say that crystal is the gift for your 15th wedding anniversary. I think the reason you give crystal is because it becomes crystal clear about the marriage relationship and all that is needed in keeping such a commitment over the long haul of time. Valentines Day 2011

I had a very cool Valentines day this year. I woke up this morning to find Kim had set out a bunch of candy kisses spelling out " I Love You". Beside it was a card saying I love you. I had a great birthday this year. Very low key, just how I like them. I was bugging Kim that morning how I didn't want anything elaborate. Just a half sheet cake with some simple words on it like, "Here stands a man at 45 blowing out his cake. Hope he doesn't pass out for goodness sakes". Come to think of it I might need a whole .......

Cure for Winter Chills

Our family enjoys the adventure of the outdoors, so Spring and Fall are our favorite seasons to get out and about fishing, hiking, and seeing wildlife. Needless to say the winter months often seem long and cause a little cabin fever at our house. The one part of winter that I particulary enjoy is making homemade soups.

I started on Steven to play guitar around July 2007. I bought him a cheap Jay Turser guitar kit for a little over $120. I proceeded to try to get him to play, but he didn't start up on it till this past year in 2010. We both started guitar lessons at our church with a fellow named Clark Beasley..

Snow Day 2010

The day after Christmas we got a wonderful surprise...SNOW...not those wimpy dustings but 6 inches of good packing snow. Living in North Carolina, this is a rarity to get snow that you can actually play in. Needless to say, we were unprepared. So, we bundled up and headed to the mall to purchase the only sled we could find...a cheaply made overpriced snowboard with a handle, perfectly sized for midgets ...nothing like Troy and I remembered growing up.
